Brunch at Shouk Cafe, Brisbane

Shouk Cafe in Paddington beautifully presents a modern menu inspired by the Middle East.

According to their website, owners Guy Frawley and Adi Shabtay opened Shouk Cafe in March, 2014.

We tried the following dishes.

Citrus and Saffron Waffles ($18) - Belgian waffles with ruby grapefruit segments, lemon curd, saffron ice cream, orange powder and shredded coriander jelly. This was a well put-together dish with many textures. The waffles were very sweet so the sour elements complemented perfectly.

Latke Stack ($18.50) - Polish potato pancake stack with cream cheese, dill, pickled red onions, dukkah, two poached eggs and your choice of salmon, bacon, avocado or haloumi. A bit of everything on the plate made for a perfect flavour bite.

Lamb Salad ($22) - slow cooked cumin lamb shoulder, greens, broccolini, radish, green tahini sauce and toasted rye crumbs. This dish didn't wow as much as the other two and probably wouldn't order again.
