A photo of polenta waffles by Michelle from Kazuri Photography, an occasional The Food Avenue contributor, led to a catch up at Ricardo's Cafe in Macquarie.
Not much in terms of the interior had changed since my last review of Ricardo's, but the cafe menu and cakes had certainly changed.
I was torn between the Eggs Benedict (because I knew they were good) and trying something different.
In the end, I ordered the Sticky date hotcakes, blood orange gel, banana pecan crumble, ricotta honey ice cream and injectable warm butterscotch sauce.
The hotcakes tasted like a fluffy sticky date pudding and I loved the crunch from the crumble. We enjoyed the interactive nature of the dish.
Michelle had the delicious Polenta waffles. The waffles were crispy and the sauces dotted around were flavoursome. The accompanying chorizo was a tasty addition.
