Tilba Growers Market, South Coast

I've been spending a fair bit of time recently at the South Coast, exploring Eurobodalla Shire. Making our base in Narooma, we ventured out to Central Tilba yesterday (mostly for their famous cheese), which is located around 10 kilometres south south west of Narooma. We made it just in time for the Tilba Growers Market, which is on every Saturday 8am - 12pm in the Big Hall. The market has fresh and affordable home grown produce, homemade jams/chutneys, handmade jewellery and gift cards.

I think we were most impressed by these gluten-free and dairy-free savoury muffins made of brown rice, swiss chard and feta!

My friends couldn't resist getting some! I stole a taste and it reminded me of a curry-flavoured onigiri (rice ball). Definitely worth a visit to the market if you're in the area on a Saturday morning!

Get excited Canberra, because the most anticipated foodie event in September, The Forage, is on this weekend!!

My Brisbane foodcation is wrapping up now and I'm looking forward to an exciting Saturday afternoon in Canberra, sampling street food from mobile vendors, cafes, wineries, and listening to local musicians.

The Forage is held every three months and Saturday 27th September is the first time it will be held in Aircraft Hangar #47, Fairbairn Precinct. Previously being held in New Acton, the change in venue is a reflection of its growing popularity. I went along to the last one and it was absolutely packed with crowds. Dagwood dogs are out. Gourmet street food is in.

Peruvian food has really taken off in Australia as of late and Mr Papa (Peruvian food stand) has become a familiar favourite at The Forage. I am seriously in love with their chanchitos - Peruvian pork belly sandwiches! The combination of flavours is genius: the tangy salsa, the incredible chilli cream sauce, the golden sweet potato, and the star of the show - the slow cooked pork belly are all wrapped up in a crusty bread roll. Delicious.

The other mobile vendor that's worth the wait is the Hardcore Carnivore food truck. You can get deliciously meaty rolls from this chrome-coloured food van.
