Canberra District Wine Week program

This year the Canberra District Wine Industry Association has put together a new initiative, the Canberra District Wine Week – a celebration of Canberra district wines.

Visitors and locals can enjoy a week long program, running from 4 to 10 April 2016, of planned wine tasting dinners and events happening throughout the region. The celebration will conclude out at participating cellar doors with the 2016 Harvest Festival.

Monday 4 April – Friday 8 April:  

Come down to the Ostani Garden Bar at Hotel Realm where every night across the Canberra District Wine Week local winemakers will be serving a selection of their wines.  more information

Monday 4 April:

Join us at Muse for an intimate evening to taste Pinot Noir wines fromLerida EstatePankhurst Wines and Domaine Rogha Crois matched with a range of superb canapes prepared by Sam Willis, head chef at Muse.  more information –This event is now sold out

Tuesday 5 April:

A tasting evening of left field wines along with canapes will be served atClementine in Yass.  more information

For those in Canberra enjoy a delicious dinner hear about alternative wines (natural and left field) at Eightysix in Braddon.  more information

Wednesday 6 April:

A wine dinner and the official launch of the Canberra District Wine Week will be held at Hotel Realm.  The evening will be hosted by Gourmet Traveller’s Winemaker of the Year for 2013, Tim Kirk, and leading wine writer Huon Hooke. The event will feature a five-course dinner with matching award-winning Canberra wines. Tickets are limited.  more information

Wednesday 6 April – Saturday 9 April

A blind tasting competition will run at The Canberra Wine House where visitors can test their wine knowledge.  more information

Wednesday 6 April – Sunday 10 April

A steak and Shiraz lunch and dinner will be available at The George Bar & Dining at The Lake George Hotel. Their famous Cattleman’s steak will be matched with a glass of a local Shiraz.  more information

Thursday 7 April:

A showcase of Canberra district sparkling will be held at the Yass Valley Information Centre.   Drop in for a taste and a chat with local Sparkling producers as well as leading wine writer Huon Hooke. more information

Local Cabernet producers will be matching their wines with some great local lamb dishes at Flint at Shaw Vineyard.  Four local winemakers and Gourmet Traveller wine writer Huon Hooke will be on hand to talk about the wines.  more information

The famous Sangiovese and pizza dinner is on again at Four Winds Vineyard. Local winemakers will match their wine to delicious wood-fired pizzas.  more information

Gryphons Caffe Bar at the Griffith shops will be hosting a tasting and dining evening with the winemakers from Three LadsSummerhill Road Wines and Kerralee Winesmore information

The Green Herring Restaurant will be hosting a wine and food degustation. The delicious 6 course dinner will feature wines fromBarton EstateGallagher Wines and Granitevale Estate.  more information

Friday 8 April:

The Yazzbar will host a Meet the Makers evening.  Local winemakers will be there to pour and talk about the amazing wines in the district.  more information

To celebrate the harvest festival, a seasonal degustation dinner with matching wines will be held at the Ewe ‘N Me restaurant in Yass.  more information

Poachers Pantry and Wily Trout Vineyard will be hosting a Veggie Patch Dinner under the stars. Their chef will be cooking in the veggie patch using the vegetables from the garden and Poachers Pantry smoked meats. Wily Trout Vineyard will also have a pre-release of some of their 2016 wines.  more information

Canberra district wine week is a celebration of our local wineries and where better to enjoy wine than the beautiful gardens of Pod Food. Canberra district wineries Eden Road WinesNick O’Leary andMount Majura Vineyard will be there with their wines while Pod Foodwill provide delicious canapés and charcuterie.  more information

Saturday 9 April:

Join the Pinot and the Passion Trail – discover intriguing Pinot Noir from the Canberra district and the passion of the people who make them.  more information

Oysters Unplugged will be set up with an oyster bar at Mount Majura Vineyard to help celebrate the 2016 Harvest Festival. Oysters are a perfect match with their Riesling or The Silurian Sparkling wine.  more information

Weekend of 9 and 10 April – Harvest Festival

Come out to the cellar doors and see where the Canberra district wines come from. On Saturday there will be activities such as vineyard and winery tours, grape stomping, talks on winemaking, music and wine tasting.
